Facing the realities and the stiff competition from Wikipedia , the Encyclopedia Britannica will now focus primarily on their online services. Wikipedia has grown to be the number one source for students. In fact, many students will stop research and change topics if it’s not on Wikipedia. Wikipedia provides a wealth of information with over 26 billion pages of content. Studies have even shown that Wikipedia is almost as accurate as the Encyclopedia Britannica.

Wikipedia is ten years old today. I love Wikipedia. As a professional businessperson, the spirit of Social Media and platforms like Wikipedia runs counterintuitive to the rules of business. One of the main reasons I've personally (and professionally) started thinking differently about the Marketing industry was because of what Wikipedia stands for. According to a recent survey , Facebook has more users than any other social network but those users don’t necessarily like Facebook. Other social media sites scored on customer satisfaction including Twitter, LinkedIn, and Pinterest. These social networks all scored 64, 63, and 69, respectively.
