You may have a harder time at succeeding than other people (Leo Babauta was on the Digg homepage over 40 times which helped quickly propel him to 100k+ subscribers) but if you stick at it then you have no excuse for building a failed blog. Transparency is a table stake in my eyes, but authenticity is something to think about as well.
