While, the diary still scored over cellphone in some of the features the socially conscious consumer just wanted to have a single device. Fast forward to 20 September 2010 i.e. today where I just finished reading Kapil Ohri’s latest write-up on afaqs.com which talks about Poken – a USB enabled pen drive type social business card device. The device allows users to exchange their contact details and social networking profile within a few seconds.

I got a call yesterday from a vendor selling a social media solution. I was astounded by the person admitting that he really didn’t know enough about social media to answer the question. Last month I was with a client who wanted me to be in on a meeting with another social media solutions provider they were considering. Now the flip side of this story is that I have a friend who is in sales for a medium sized enterprise web 2.0

Working within PR, and particularly in media relations, I’ve found that voice mail is bordering on pointless. It’s also blatantly obvious that the more that we grow into Web 2.0 , the more opportunities it affords us to get in contact with people. The more I become immersed in the world of media relations, the more I realize that every journalist is different and each requires different means of communication, and leaving voice mails is rarely asked for.

Being able to easily create business related social media content that goes viral is a great way to put money in your pocket, and your brand on the lips of every consumer that you reach. What would be even better is to have a web 2.0 So.Cl (pronounced “social”) is a social sharing network currently in beta that was launched December 4, 2012 as an experiment by Microsoft FUSE Labs to provide a social media platform for students to share content with others.
