One Ad Account Per Client

Jon Loomer

You can’t keep doing this… Too many advertisers continue to use one ad account to manage all of their clients. This isn’t just a bad idea, it’s against Meta’s rules. Meta started making a big deal of this a couple of years ago. I even wrote a blog post about how it was becoming a greater focus of rules enforcement. Now we’re starting to hear that they’re taking this more seriously now.

It’s Easy to Create Campaigns Now

Jon Loomer

It’s easy to create campaigns now. This is the narrative lately, and it’s starting to impact jobs. Clients think they don’t need agencies anymore. They can just handle it internally and pass it off to an intern. It’s just plug-and-play, right? Even some agencies are buying into this. They think they can consolidate jobs because it’s so easy. They value these skills less.

When Broad Targeting Fails

Jon Loomer

We’re moving into a new era of Meta advertising. Meta wants us to go broader with our targeting, and in some cases there is evidence that it’s effective. But there are times when broad targeting is bound to fail. You may even get results that appear to be positive. But that’s part of the issue here. The performance fails once you scratch below the surface.

Videos Transformed My Website

Jon Loomer

Now, you’re here because you already know about how I’m using short-form videos with custom post types. But, allow me to provide some history on what has happened. Sharing videos in this format was never my plan. When I first started recording short-form videos , they only lived on each social platform (the logical solution). Eventually, I’d create a custom post type for video posts and I publish each one on my website (like this).

300 Custom Audience Limit

Jon Loomer

A 300 custom audience limit? How long has this been a thing? Recently I saw this error on my Audiences page: “Too many custom audiences. To regain access to audience sizes for your custom audiences, you must have 300 or fewer custom audiences.” First of all, huh? I’ve never seen this limit mentioned before. Meta’s own documentation says that you can create up to 500 custom audiences per ad account.

No Gender in Audience Controls

This could be a problem. When using Advantage+ Audience , you can adjust gender within audience suggestions… but there’s no option for gender within Audience Controls. Only age minimum, location, custom audience exclusions, and language. This is a problem I’ve heard about from women who market to women. They adjust the audience suggestion to reach only women.
