dot coma – Are Domain Names Even Relevant Now?

Convince & Convert

When I started, domain names were free , because why would anyone pay money for something of no consequence? Domain names were free, and brands didn’t even know what the World Wide Web was in many cases (given that graphical browsers barely existed). Domain names ending in.net were reserved for telcos and Internet providers (like us) exclusively. Anheuser-Busch: “It seems you have the Budweiser.com domain name?”

Microsoft Buys Domains with Hyphens, Skips Domains without Hyphens

Bill Hartzer

Well, by now you probably know about how I feel about domains with hyphens in them. If you don’t, then you may want to read my post about a test that was done regarding domain names with hyphens. Granted, in many cases where the site’s webmaster has set up a redirect from the site’s real home page to an internal URL on the site, they don’t know how to change the default home page on the server.
