Welcome Direct Messages are both a useful tool and the bane of the Twitter existence. I tried their paid service and I just felt that that overall, the services were clunky and in some cases, redundant to tools I like better. For those services, I use and suggest SocialOomph. Some are free, some are part of their paid service.

Dear Blog Comment Spammer, who just left a comment on one of my recent blog posts: I think whatever software tool or script that you are using is broken. Whatever the reason, you should have noticed that none of the blog comments that are left on my blog actually allow outgoing links to websites.
