Someone recently asked me about redirecting their old web pages (their old URLs) to the new URLs because they redesigned their website. However, we forgot to catalogue all of the old URLs on the old website, and therefore we have no way of knowing what the old URLs were on the site, so we can redirect them to the new URLs.

Bring attention to your search box and include a list of your most popular pages or articles. Chances are, if the visitor sees the intended destination somewhere in that list, they’ll click it without a second thought. Give your lost visitors a way to find their way back. Better yet, do the work for your lost visitor!

Committing to a content management system (CMS) for your blog is a big decision. Everything is in a name and if you want people to find your blog easier and your blog’s URL to fit in any business card, then it is a good idea to have your own domain. Being at the top of the list: Google AdSense.

It only took a few minutes of brainstorming for me to come up with this list of search engine optimization mistakes. There are quite a bit more SEO mistakes on my search engine optimization audit list. When you click a link or visit a web page on your web site, does the URL change? Not having search engine friendly URLs.

When you hire an Agency to deliver a new website there’s a long list of items they need to work on to ensure the website migration is successful. When you launch a new website, you’ll want to apply 301 redirects to the pages from the old site that no longer exist or that exist with a different URL. Get training.
