Canonicalization and URL Structure. Rather than wasting your time rehashing this topic, I have written a handy guide that explains URL structure best practices in full. To summarize the article, there should only be one URL used to get to the homepage of your website. Noindex and Nofollow. Title and Meta Tags.

URL Rating (UR). Nofollow links also matter. Some links, for example, the ones from blog comments may have the rel=”nofollow” attribute. <a The nofollow attribute gives search engines instructions not to follow the link. It refers to the strength (authority) of an individual page and is measured from 0–100.

Permalinks Permalinks are simply the URL’s for your posts. p=38 but if you look at the URL for this post you will see [link] I’ll let you decide which one you think looks better. I currently use the following format: Some people like to have categories in there but I like to keep URL’s as short as possible.

First off, even if your link is “nofollow” (doesn’t give you link juice), places with high domain authority should still be of interest to you. If you have any concerns, you can look up Google’s cached snapshots for any URL, if you want to make sure that the links are picked up, and if everything is being indexed as it should.

Social networking website URL if any. By documenting data you need not refer to various social networking websites every time you need an URL. Avoid posting links on random or affiliated websites rather nofollow the link or remove them. Link Networks: Link networks can get you in the bad books of a search engine.
