Remember that link building should not just be solely for increasing search engine rankings or building up PageRank. Building a search engine to correctly order billions of web pages for billions of queries has to be one of the greatest computational challenges in human history. I don’t really have any qualms with that; this is Google’s search engine and it’s up to them which kind of results they want to display.
