For a while now, I have been hearing stories about how other bloggers are getting great traffic results from StumbleUpon. I admit it, though, I’m a bit late in the game to gleaning the true value of StumbleUpon. Until recently, I just saw it as another social bookmarking tool like Digg , Delicious , or Reddit.

The news of layoffs at StumbleUpon reminded me that in compiling some year-end social media referral data I’d noticed that a number of sites had experienced declines in StumbleUpon traffic. Today, Conde Nast Digital , the guys behind Reddit.com , purchased a whopping 285 domain names related to Reddit, I began to wonder if something big is in the works for Reddit. Apparently “something big&# is coming soon, related to Reddit. Only two of them did NOT include the word “Reddit&# in them.
