Think of social media as a listening tool. One of the things you can setup in Twitter, HootSuite , TweetDeck , and other Twitter management tools are saved searches. There are many ways to setup your tweets to also be displayed on your blog, or sent to other social networking accounts such as Myspace, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

So here it is (and its easy): If you really insist on, or enjoy the convenience of, linking your tweets to Facebook, use the Selective Tweets application on Facebook. Selective Tweets or only posting certain tweets to FB via Tweetdeck etc is a great way to integrate but not alienate. Much appreciated.

If there’s a big yellow Tweetdeck button in my Dock or some links shared by my friends on Facebook, I’m going to want to click around. I tweet more frequently too, using HootSuite (my favorite Twitter application by far) to schedule tweets down the road. HootSuite puts all the accounts in one single interface (you can do the same with TweetDeck and Seesmic, I believe), but in terms of passwords, I usually use KeePass to store them with other relevant account information.
