Twitter as a tool to communicate during conferences. This was particularly prevalent during the South by Southwest conference several months ago, which helped fuel Twitter’s growth. Answers Yahoo! Right now, brand awareness is the sole reason why people follow particular Twitter streams. Yeah, I thought so. Go with both.

When you have a group of people submitting their work, there is an awareness that it isn’t just one idea that will work, so the result is a higher quality of work. Crowdsourcing is an useful model because it can be used by any group for any reason. Answers Yahoo! As they saying goes, competition breeds excellence.

Many of them (more than half) were individuals I met at search conferences, but other conferences (SXSW, events that Mashable was involved in in the capacity of host or media sponsor, and the first IZEAFest) also represented my Industry connections. Answers Yahoo! It’s not. People use both networks as a free-for-all.

When you go to a conference in Manhattan, you probably seek out hotels that you’ve also heard of. I personally learned about Roger Smith Hotel at a social media conference and was told that it’s the place to be. I first really learned about RSH at the conference we were at together, Betsy. Industry colleagues are those I have met in person (typically in a casual atmosphere or at conferences). Twitter, Pownce, and other “microblogging&# platforms really don’t fit in the type of social networks that I intend to illustrate here. Answers Yahoo! But how would you count how often you “visit&# Twitter?

RCCL’s own words at that conference tells the tale: Hannock noted, “The key to success in viral marketing is to subtly influence the influencers without them overtly realizing they are being influenced.” I could not say what the timing was without researching the dates of the conference.
