A lot happened this month in social media with most of the news centered around the Facebook privacy scandal. What we learned from that experience is that many people in Congress do not understand how social networks work and that Facebook has a lot of action items to follow up on. Facebook Faced Congress.

Nearly four months later, the social features appear to be here to stay. As Digg becomes more of a social network and less of a social news network (or a hybrid that incorporates both elements), it has a lot of obstacles it needs to face. I figure if you want private communication, go to IM.

My uncle knows a young girl from his community, a recent college graduate, who is looking for a social media job. Just because my work includes strong involvement with social media doesn’t mean that I need to let everyone into my personal life… or for that matter… open my privacy so you can see all my posts.

Some even boast high rankings and good sized communities. I met him on StumbleUpon over a year ago and he is one of those kids who never ceases to amaze me; he totally understands social media and his 22 Reasons for You to Blog was even featured in my annual Best Posts of 2009 roundup. Don’t shy away from giving your community the information needed to find you elsewhere both online and offline. It also reminds you that Facebook is one of their social destinations on the web, but that you might be interested in their YouTube page. Give them a reason to want to communicate. I know I would.)

Since the Digg submission of my story was already buried , I sincerely hope that Digg listens to what their community members have to say. By trying to make Digg more social, it really became less social. i like digg because its different and i hope that difference doesnt erode with these new features.

Despite the fact that Facebook has the most customizable privacy settings of all social networks (though we could argue with their effectiveness in a whole other post), people don’t like maintaining a “business&# identity on the same profile as their “personal&# (fun?) I’d be honored to have you join me.
