Granted, these are typically publications that have a staff of writers at their disposal, but they are like the newspapers of the blogosphere and readers have come to expect frequent updates.

A few weeks ago, jwz posted a great piece on how to access Facebook via a feed reader. I now have status updates in my feed, and finally, I can see both happy and sad news. I may have met these individuals by chance (long-standing relationship) or through the blogosphere or forums. Answers Yahoo!

One tool I like to use when looking for large blogs in a niche is Google Reader, and more specifically its ‘Browse for Feeds’ feature. You can do this by logging into your Google Reader account and clicking ‘Browse for feeds’ on the left menu. Google Reader Subscriber Counts. Most Saved Delicious Links.

Whenever I have friends looking to enter teh blogosphere, I always remind them that the internet has an impressively long memory, so be careful what you put out there.

Why feed counts mean absolutely nothing (and never really have). Mashable – still trailing far behind TechCrunch in feed subscriber numbers – began to overtake them in traffic figures.
