As Digg becomes more of a social network and less of a social news network (or a hybrid that incorporates both elements), it has a lot of obstacles it needs to face. Besides major usability issues , duplicate stories submissions , and ads that literally scream at you , Digg has yet another issue to deal with: privacy.

Just because my work includes strong involvement with social media doesn’t mean that I need to let everyone into my personal life… or for that matter… open my privacy so you can see all my posts. I kind of have an “old school&# approach but I also respect my privacy. Great post.

As Tamar pointed out, it’s a social news site, not a network and I could care less about how often profiles are updated. Folks that spent considerable time on Digg prior to the update, by and large, were looking for a social news site. It’s a social site with news secondary. Is there any?

Despite the fact that Facebook has the most customizable privacy settings of all social networks (though we could argue with their effectiveness in a whole other post), people don’t like maintaining a “business&# identity on the same profile as their “personal&# (fun?)
