I think the other thing I wish I really would’ve known early on was just that true value of community. Community takes so much to build and to invest in it. Now, I have a community that’s across all channels. I don’t even really look at one platform as where my community lives but it’s amazing when you invest in your community.

Another one put a lot of time into Facebook, another one LinkedIn, one other was guest posting, another wrote on sites like Medium and all put time and effort into advertising their blog and driving traffic with paid advertising. One of the best things I did, in terms of finding new writers for my blog down the track, was to start to build community because my first writers actually came from being readers. But a Facebook group might be the place, a LinkedIn group – somewhere where you can build engagement with your readers. I did all the marketing.

I’d also love it if you would join our Facebook group, if you just go to problogger.com/group or do a search for the ProBlogger community in Facebook. The horizontal one is sized, it works for LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook and then when you have all your open graph stuff set up, everything goes perfectly.
