Someone’s Klout score is not necessarily reflective of that person’s “real&# (i.e. online + offline) influence (though, to be fair to Klout, they don’t claim that is so). To me, thats where all this hype around influence and Klout and the like fall short, because theyre not taking that into consideration.

So, services like Klout and Kred that put a number to your social influence. The customer in the back of the line has a Klout score of 75, the customer in the middle of the line has a Klout score of 17. I’m not saying Klout is good, bad, or indifferent. Eric : Yep. I don’t think he disagrees with me.

Generally speaking though, they lend themselves to community building and time saving features. For those who track this sort of thing, I’ve noticed that in some cases using a curation service can increase the Klout Score. Particularly for multi-day events I could see Storify adding to the sense of community.
