As Digg becomes more of a social network and less of a social news network (or a hybrid that incorporates both elements), it has a lot of obstacles it needs to face. Besides major usability issues , duplicate stories submissions , and ads that literally scream at you , Digg has yet another issue to deal with: privacy.

Just because my work includes strong involvement with social media doesn’t mean that I need to let everyone into my personal life… or for that matter… open my privacy so you can see all my posts. I kind of have an “old school&# approach but I also respect my privacy. Great post.

Twitter, Pownce, and other “microblogging&# platforms really don’t fit in the type of social networks that I intend to illustrate here. I think it’s a bit of an intrusion on my privacy with how Spock seems to be harvesting emails. Tamar is also the author of The New Community Rules (July 2009).

But I do think its important to, if they want to blog, teach them well about how to keep a secure amount of privacy, especially when it comes to pictures, addresses, hang-out spots, etc. Buzz YouTube Tamar Weinberg is a social media enthusiast with a passion for all things tech and productivity. Despite the fact that Facebook has the most customizable privacy settings of all social networks (though we could argue with their effectiveness in a whole other post), people don’t like maintaining a “business&# identity on the same profile as their “personal&# (fun?) You should know that using some types of ads like Kontera (contextual advertising) and the likes on your blog will irritate a large percentage of your readers but using AdSense the right way will not affect your blog.
