Since the beginning of idaconcpts.com, I was really excited about sharing my insights on marketing and web analytics with the blogosphere. However, after watching the launch of the Samsung Epic 4G from Sprint on August 2010, it made me rethink about the 3 key features that I would need to blog from a smart phone more often.

Possess a smart phone. Have the phone nearby and usable when you encounter a QR code (easy in a magazine ad, perhaps less so for QR codes now appearing on highway billboards). This is the case with the increasingly popular use of QR codes in place of Web URLs. Perfect mobile formatting of the information delivered.

And indeed, given the increasing ubiquity of smart phones ( 41% in the U.S. From a branding and behavior likelihood perspective (the QR code dwarfs the URL, which is more likely to be used), this is misplaced design priorities, Exhibit A. And marketers are buying it in bulk. But that’s when SMS was still cool.

This might involve a tablet or laptop so they can physically look at your blog, perhaps a clearly visible web address and encouragement for people to give your blog a look on their smart phones (if you intend to do this then ensure your blog has an attractive mobile template).

These days I’m spending my time focusing on much bigger (and more competitive markets) and having a lot of success. You aren’t going to rank for ‘internet marketing’ within a few months from scratch, but you may rank for a variation on the term fairly easily.

Really smart guy, Eric : Yep. And I was so mobilized by this, I wrote a post on Saturday and used it to ignore my in-laws, which is probably a bad call long term. You do not understand how digital marketing works. Yes, marketers are lazy. Stat of the week comes from Return Path , which is an email marketing data company.
