Any irrelevant pages like terms of use, PDF files, privacy policy, and sitemaps should be nofollowed. Use your own discretion as to other pages you may want to nofollow. Scary, isn’t it? Avoid posting links on random or affiliated websites rather nofollow the link or remove them. On one hand Link directories are an effective solution for generating quality back links but postings on insignificant directories is considered spam and should be removed at the earliest.

Directory Submissions By nature, directory links are of a very poor quality. Sometimes I’ll also pay $100 or so to BOTW.org which is a human-filtered directory which can give me some great link juice. As soon as I’m cached in this directory I find my rankings to increase almost instantly. This is gold.

Nofollow links also matter. Some links, for example, the ones from blog comments may have the rel=”nofollow” attribute. <a <a rel=”nofollow” href=” [link] “>Example of nofollow link</a> Any paid links must have the rel=”nofollow” attribute to comply with Google’s guidelines.

NoFollow Certain Pages I did say there may be some tactics that people frown upon in this post, and this is the first. The Nofollow attribute was first introduced by search engines to help stop spam on the web from ranking in search results. Similarly, I nofollow links to my about page, my category links and my RSS feed.

Interestingly, the site dogobedienceshortcuts.com is relying heavily on article directories and Squidoo to give it the links it needs in order to rank highly for this profitable phrase. Gail – as far as I know most blogs are nofollow so I’m not quite sure how this can help you with SEO for the most part.
