Here’s just a sample of the type of replies received by people contacting Etsy about this shop. Strangely, Etsy didn’t remove the shop that so clearly violates their terms of service. As you said, the relationships are an important part of it, and thats not a bad thing, but sort of gets to a - its who you know not what you know type of thing. I undertand why lists are important and you give really great tips, but sometimes I cant help but feel that lists are part of a big Twitter popularity contest. I dont know.

I actually think shock tactics can work if they are directly tied to an issue, and there is some type of action to take as a result. Imagine what they could have accomplished, say, if they created some type of challenge -- groups who raised the most money for the cause would win a private performance by Alicia Keys -- something like that.
