Today, Facebook or MySpace will help you locate lost family or reunite with old friends. Today, nearly all of my high school friends are online, and most of them maintain Facebook or MySpace accounts. I am only now starting to check these social sites out, just Facebook and StumbleUpon so far. Hope springs eternal, I guess.

The reason is that people didn’t have aggregate power: they were individual voices that a news channel or a company can choose to ignore. Facebook, Myspace etc are just the start. Once the Web is better optimized for mobile devices people will add even more user generated content. Again, by no means is this new.
