Over the last three days, I’ve spoken to four HUGE brands in America that are considering social media for one project or another, and there are many more out there working on how these tools might integrate into their business needs. Add social bookmark links to your most important web pages and/or blog posts to improve sharing.

Establishing a social media strategy will help you see where potential customers are hanging out. You can search for related groups and Fan Pages through Facebook, start accounts on social bookmarking sites such as Digg or StumbleUpon, and check on who is linking to your site to find out who’s interested.

And that differentiates StumbleUpon from the other social “news&# networks. As I pointed out in a recent Problogger post , Digg is not so much of a “social bookmarking&# site, but StumbleUpon certainly is. Digg is social news; Diigo is social bookmarking (which is lumped in with delicious).

Work on building outposts for your content on social bookmarking sites like Digg and Delicious to help get more exposure for it. As you continue to build up your reputation and build up your network in these different communities you will figure out how to get your blog in front of them.
