While my personal one is not “secret&# per se, and even has the same avatar/photo as my professional one, I find it much more useful to compartmentalize, both for following others and being followed. I read this article about microblogging [link] , and although it has not made a fan out of me, it has opened my eyes to its wonders.

If you are AT&T and your avatar was the face of your CEO, you’re doing it wrong. If you are building your *personal* brand, by all means, use your avatar (and face!). People are following AT&T because they care about AT&T, not about some no-name behind the company. Yes, I did just say that.

You are attempting to post a long drawn out trolling style comment and you don’t have the balls to put your name on it, or use an avatar or a real email address. Therefore anything you say after you put in your phony name has no substance. At least not for me. Just my 2 cents.

Some people have avoided making that call on the Internet thus far through avatars, but that won’t fly with FriendFeed. In a way, FriendFeed makes the Internet more like the “real world&# where you have to think about what your actions say about you.
