If the goal of your first Facebook ad is just to drive traffic to a blog post, maybe your success metric there is simply cost per click (CPC). This episode is available on: iTunes. Google Play. First off, to make the most out of your FB PPC campaign, you don’t want to use the “CPC” method, you’ll want to use the “CPM” method. When you go to setting up you FB Ad campaigns, you’ll have the option to choose from either CPC or CPM. Really Simple Syndication. Create a name for yourself.

And they can be purchased like banner ads with Cost per Click (CPC) and Cost per Thousand (CPM). For example if you want to target MBA graduates that are 3-5 years out of school and working in Southern Connecticut that like Classic Rock music whose favorite food is Sushi – you can do that!

Cost Per Click (CPC). Now AdSense do a combination of CPC and CPM ads—they mix them in. Some ad networks (like AdSense) have ways of doing this but you can also sell sponsorships in your RSS feed directly. We use a WordPress plugin called RSS Footer to add an advertisement in the RSS feed of ProBlogger.

I also ran a small experiment that meant I paid people with over 500 Facebook friends $10 to post a link to my RSS feed. I installed click tracking on this and my CPC (Cost per click) worked out at $1 which is awfully high. What was your success rate when it comes to convincing people to post a link to your RSS feed?
