A well known news outlet contacted me a few weeks ago asking for advice on building visibility to her articles that were submitted to a social news site where I help moderate. There’s more to be done, such as listening to your community and actually speaking amongst them (and not just at them). Like this post?

If you don’t buy the extended warranty it costs you just to call and try to get help. Apple is never about the customer but their own bottom line and not begin engaged with the customers about issues through social media shows this even further. But I don’t consider it smart to try to convert new buyers.

Google and Facebook still lead in digital display earnings, but according to a recent report, Twitter revenues will surpass AOL in 2014 and Microsoft by 2015. Storify is a platform that allows you to curate content from other social networks - videos, tweets, blog posts, etc. and may very well point to the future of content.

Patience is required in building a community, seeing real results with monetization and building traffic. Some people are able to build a community but fail at monetizing their blogs. Some also build traffic but fail to build a community. We’re also offering new publishers a $50 bonus if they get at least 25,000 U.S.

We’re not the only ones [enabling such communication] but a lot of people are using our tools, especially in places like Colombia. We’re not trying to build new communities; we’re allowing people to communicate with people they already know. What about the ad deal you currently have with Microsoft?

This is not a regular practice on the social news giant, and unfortunately, that is probably the biggest thing causing its downfall. There was only one occasion when the users were able to make a lasting impression on the social news site. It’s their community of choice and that’s fine.

He was incredibly giving and made huge sacrifices for his community, his wife, his children, his grandchildren, and even his great-granddaughter who was born the week after he was admitted to the hospital for the last time.
