If you use Facebook aps for StumbleUpon, etc. You can no longer behave one way on digg and another way in StumbleUpon. I needed to differentiate Digg from social media because they actually are part of a distinctive community (and as you know, I’m very passionate about Digg so it really did deserve its own category). Add an avatar and a bio at the minimum. Social News (Digg, Sphinn, Mixx, Reddit, Tip’d, and a whole load of related sites) Submitting only your own articles and posts to social media sites. StumbleUpon Sending more than one story to your network daily. There is no reason to make a personal request. Excess converts to spam.

While my personal one is not “secret&# per se, and even has the same avatar/photo as my professional one, I find it much more useful to compartmentalize, both for following others and being followed. I read this article about microblogging [link] , and although it has not made a fan out of me, it has opened my eyes to its wonders.

Yes, Twitter and Facebook and Digg and other niche sites cost nothing to join, making social media a relatively free marketing option. You are attempting to post a long drawn out trolling style comment and you don’t have the balls to put your name on it, or use an avatar or a real email address. At least not for me.
