If you use Twitter regularly, you’d see that it wins as a social news site that provides instantaneous news — at least of that caliber. As Chris Garrett explains in his post, if you follow numerous feed bots, you can get the news all the time. The right news will hit the front page of Digg quickly.

In comparison, here’s another anomaly (for its time). This is not a regular practice on the social news giant, and unfortunately, that is probably the biggest thing causing its downfall. There was only one occasion when the users were able to make a lasting impression on the social news site.

After using both closely, the comparison to Twitter shouldn’t even be the case. When it comes to a basis of comparison, nested conversations are probably the only aspect of Plurk that has brought it much success (save for the lack of downtime, though it does suffer some quirks here and there).
