The effective practice of social media marketing requires monitoring all channels, from online cruise message boards to social networking sites like Facebook or LinkedIn. I just think that the *active* cruise community is definitely a bit disappointed. But I don’t think Royal Caribbean screwed up.

In the team’s defense, they do have a nicely executed Events tab, and the Wall seems to be pretty active, with a variety of contests for fans. I got hooked on the Star Tribune Twolves message board in 2002 and haven’t looked back. They need to snap up that Facebook name pronto.

They had set up message boards, and people would go on there and say that they’re having a heart attack and (I guess) Kaiser was required to send an ambulance to respond. This same desire is why there are over 100 million active blogs out there, each with authors trying to connect to the bigger whole. Using a comments system like Disqus to stand out (where people can comment with multiple social profiles) instead of using a separate registration page as many of them require.

I really, really, really hope someone at Facebook starts listening and takes this advice because otherwise business activity will plateau and then plummet and they’ll be out of luck. million members, and I’ve asked her to contribute her thoughts as she’s gathered from Facebook’s message boards and discussions.

There are some elements of Disqus I don’t like, especially that it doesn’t always play nice with other plug-ins, but it does make commenting easier and faster for most of you who already have a Disqus account.
