Just because I manage to get 500 visitors a day from an article I submitted to article directories doesn’t mean you can get that much traffic doing the same thing. Submit your blog to directories relevant to your niche, like InsLink.com (an SEO/webmaster directory). What works for me might not work for you, and vice versa.

There is a plethora of blogging software on the market, from ebook creators to social bookmarking software. I use this with various link-building pieces of software (such as directory and article submission software). Well, if I get 25 likes, I can secure a shorter, brandable URL. How do you know which get results?

If you’re entering an industry with a brand new site, the last thing you want to do is wait that long for some good search engine traffic. Directory Submissions By nature, directory links are of a very poor quality. As soon as I’m cached in this directory I find my rankings to increase almost instantly.

First off, by definition , direct traffic is all visitors who “arrived at your site directly (by typing the url) or via a bookmark.” PR / media relations : media exposure builds brand recognition. Social media: social networking and content sharing also builds brand awareness and credibility.

Will the blog be part of your corporate site or have its own unique URL ? The more common practice today is to treat the blog as a section of the website, often with a URL like company.com/blog. An alternative approach is to treat the blog as a separate entity with a meaningful URL.
