I went from having over 150 blogs in my feed reader in the last few years to just 12, purely because I was seeing the same content over, and over (and over) again. You can find ideas in literally any niche, with some examples being their marketing , finance , gadget and humour sections. BTW, nice post.

Sites in industries like Marketing, Finance and Personal Development post less (1-7 times per week) but write much longer articles.

For example, any article here tells you that I write about internet marketing. Finally, there was something about his feed subscription box which just didn’t look right. That’s it.

First, if you look at their traffic stats with Compete you can see that they have traffic spikes and dips at around the same time: Then, looking at feed subscribers , despite the large difference at the start of the graph, their growth rate is on a very similar consistent rise. This isn’t just some coincidence.

A site’s authority may rapidly rise and fall depending on what the blogosphere is discussing at the moment, and how often a site produces content being referenced by other sites. Decide on a Brandable Name Because these blogs write so much, they don’t have as many people coming to their blog via feed readers as you would expect.

It’s aimed at a blogosphere where there weren’t millions of blogs in each niche, all working hard to grow an audience. Mashable was the much smaller fish in this market a few years ago, until they adapted what they covered, carved a strong niche for themselves, and focused on a specific audience to help them grow.
