Anyway, last week I get this letter from Vanessa Stanford at auDA,our domain name registrar in Australia: auda 100593 Registrant – Notify Complaint (1). I registered OptusPoo.com.au

Turn your brand into a company and take in investors. So I named my blog something that was not attached to the domain name. Then I built up the brand name, sold the brand to investors, and spun off a company. It’s a great way to leverage your community-building abilities, if you have them.

Even back when Darren and I started discussing a potential book, blogging wasn’t new, and we had already seen the community undergo several changes. Of course, there are hybrids, and niche sites that start out only for search traffic and then they find they attract a community or grow email newsletters after the fact.

The difference is that it may be a lot harder, and take a while longer, to find those 5,000 people and introduce them to your community. But there it is, growing at an extremely profitable rate, competing with some extremely well established brands and companies with huge marketing budgets. The second? Is it harder than it used to be?

I use networking as a very broad term which chould include creating connections with bloggers, finding companies who can help you to get your offering out there and utilising other areas of social media to get eyeballs on your creation. This is very popular in the UK. Once you have this unique resource; you have to get it out there.
