I could set-up discussion forums that charge a monthly fee or even some type of games website that charges members to play. Instead, I’m going to go back to my favourite type of marketing: affiliate marketing. It helps me alot… I really wanted to start affiliate marketing and I think this is a very good start.

Even back when Darren and I started discussing a potential book, blogging wasn’t new, and we had already seen the community undergo several changes. Of course, there are hybrids, and niche sites that start out only for search traffic and then they find they attract a community or grow email newsletters after the fact.

They are mostly profiles, forum links and blog posts which are high PR do follow. Going to start a blog similar to yours once I get my feet wet in affiliate marketing…a lot has changed since I stopped the simple things I was doing to run my web design business. They are not relevant to my site but still of very high PR.

I created a few web based products in the past but my error was not doing enough market research. To be honest I also didn’t have enough time and resources, so I decided that for now my top priority is working on my affiliate marketing stuff so that I’ll have more resources in the future to do what I love.

In order to get mentions on other blogs then you need to be focusing on being involved in the communities for that industry online and providing the very best content that you can. These two have been fundamental in increasing the traffic to ViperChill and allowing me to build an audience of loyal followers.

I won’t deny that it’s getting much, much harder in the affiliate marketing space (how I make money) but persistence, determination and creativity can take you anywhere. I focus mostly on my blog, but am tempted to try developing an affiliate marketing site. You make it all sound so easy. I dig it, man.
