Collectibles buy an account and get special badges like the Pro badge above. Maybe nice avatars or backgrounds created by budding entrepreneurs and facilitated by Twitter? Sort of Affiliate marketing on steroids. Business ones even. Verified ones definitely. The eBay model but for digital items. Merchandising could be 1.Twitter

Instead, I’m going to go back to my favourite type of marketing: affiliate marketing. Not necessarily the name of the product, but buying phrases that would likely result in a sale if this person landed on my website. Glen, if your company went public I’d buy all the shares! Do I Think I Can Do It?

Do you have an avatar in mind? Have you ever gone to that stage of creating up a sign or an avatar, or is it just the girlfriend that you have in mind? I probably have a number of avatars now that I think about and could probably put names to them because they are beautiful readers and followers who come back time and again.

One of the best things I ever did when I started my main blog today, Digital Photography School, is to create avatars, one of the best things that you can do. Gradually over time, I began to deepen my avatars. If you want to answer worksheets to help you work through creating avatars, it’s there.

Audiences there are large, but they are there to connect, not to buy. You’re right; it’s not much different from other types of marketing. Affiliate marketing, for example, comes to mind. Companies need to leverage different social media channels if they want buyers. At least not for me. Just my 2 cents.
