What the iPhone is to smart phones, flash mobs are to marketing. While a slew of such campaigns have taken place in India, one that caught the fancy of many is the recent flash mob organized by the IBM OnDemand Community. While there were 200 people who participated, there were over 2,500 views online on YouTube.

This post takes a look at how grassroots, user generated flash mobs got hijacked and became agency created, professionally choreographed and danced by hired talent, to flog products. Gobsmacked live audience, hidden cameras, YouTube fame. This is not how flash mobs started out. Is Mardi Gras a flash mob?

Suffice it to say, the owners of this restaurant, took it to another level via these Kitchen Nightmare Youtube videos. This doesn’t absolve the restaurant owners but it does highlight the typical flash mob actions that occur on social networks. Watching the videos of the show you can see why. What can Yelp do about that?

T Mobile has, in past, brought the best virals and flash mobs like The Fake Royal wedding , The Parking Ticket Stunt and the Welcome Back. McDonald’s Celebrates 30 Years in Spain With a New YouTube Video. But no questions asked and eyebrows raised, since it is currently soaring high on charts.

The beauty of flash mobs is when people come together in public places to entertain others. Train stations and outdoor plazas are typical locales of flash mobs due to their vast performance spaces and pedestrian-friendly hubs. million YouTube viewers to praise the greatest music video ever made. Can’t see it?

The Twist Image team spent over six weeks in training for a very special Flash Mob that took place on Halloween in Montreal. I had too much travel to make the commitment, on the day of the flash mob I was in two big client presentations and ultimately, this event involves two things I'm really not good at: dressing up and dancing.

Radiotjänst really put a focus on thanking their customers and is doing so with quite extreme actions; they also did Sweden´s greatest flash mob as part of the campaign. This second version of The Hero isn´t expected to reach goals as high as the first one, but it’s a cool follow-up on the campaign and their concept.
