As many businesses have realized, there is great value in running a blog to share knowledge and show what your company is actually about. Not necessarily because you have to share an actual press release here, but rather since it can take form of a great news source. Develop social news backgrounders.

Every time I tell someone I’m a Community Manager , I get a varied response. &# That last one might be the most honest of the three, since asking a Community Manager whether they tweet for a living is like asking a construction worker if they cat-call for a living, or a doctor if he asks people to say “ah!&# for a living.

As tomorrow is an historic day – The Australian and other news.com sites move behind the paywall – what WILL we pay for, what SHOULD we pay for and what OTHER revenues streams are being missed by News.com refusal to build online communities around their content? e.g. my partner Gary Hayes being published in Wired and The Guardian.
