So, what did I do to set up and prove my theory that social media likes contributes to search engine rankings? I registered a brand new domain name, put up a very simple web page on it, and used a few social media websites to “like&# the site. But the social sharing (Google Plus and Facebook) is new.

This type of blogging has a bad name in some circles. You set up a domain name with your primary keyword in it and target that keyword plus several more that are related. You can put your SEO blog on the back end of a domain that you want to increase traffic for or put it on a separate domain and use it to build links.

Once you enter the domain name select ‘Historic Index’ followed by backlinks tab, scroll to the bottom of the page and click ‘download data’ 2. Some of the other common sources of spammy links are Forum Profiles, Blog comments, Social bookmarks and paid links.
