Why not just have a conversation, see where it goes and then pull from it for the piece. Sure, it’s all about me but considering Andre and I spoke for about an hour, he pulled pieces from the conversation that were scattered through the time line and wrote them all out as if in a chronological order. That made me smile.

Twillo will then do all the hard work and auto subscribe you to all the people talking about the subjects you are interested in. Not a bad thing but just want to make it clear. I use Monitter to see what is being said in my city by specifying the distance of search and I open it up for every conversation when I look for information about news topics or when i want to see what is being said about the company I work for. Twirl I have a few different Twitter profiles. Use get_bookmarks() instead.

The best part is that these larger news agencies are more than willing to have a short conversation with you as well. I had the opportunity of meeting people from the Contra Costa Times and learn about how a newspaper works. I have been in contact with other local news agencies like cbs5 and KTVU. Twitter connected a million people with opinions in one virtual room. something everyone young and old should be a part of and as often as possible.

Get involved in the conversation Sure you can just lurk around with all the people you are following and just keep track of what they are doing but thats boring. Most people are too busy to have a full conversation with you but if someone you are following says something interesting, respond. Just don’t break etiquette.
