While looking at the Alexa What’s Hot page this afternoon to see what everyone on the web is viewing right now, I noticed something interesting: the entry for Papa John’s home page includes an index.html file in the URL. There is absolutely no reason that one should ever see index.html show up in a URL. I could only guess.

Your web site’s real home page is at [link] and not at [link] Index.html is actually a duplicate copy: and other web sites don’t link to [link] they will link to [link] (without the index.html). Don’t just rely on your web site stats if you are using a JavaScript-based web analytics package.
