And it makes sense (due to necessary NDAs and the like) that once Digg took him on board, his loyalties to his friends would be dropped. In other words, they don’t give a damn about the community and they seemed to have moved on — perhaps completely. They forgot about the community.

Customers might purchase based on customer reviews or the opinions of influential bloggers or loyalty based on membership in one of Seth Godin’s Tribes (great book!), And hopefully you know the communities that you’re pitching to, because what works on Reddit might not work on Digg. They might want to build community.
