As December 2005 drew to a close, I asked a few bloggers what their wish list was for the new year. Several 2006 wishes came true. Turning to thoughts for 2009 a few people felt that the blogs/social media has lost its focus of customer first content t o becoming ego vehicles while others are looking for advances in technology.

It's Official: Bloggers Are Recognized by the FTC

It will no doubt be a challenge to enforce this but the FTC recognizes what many of my blogger associates resist: that receiving compensation does affect coverage. At the very least, without compensation or freebies there is far less likelihood that said blogger would be paying attention to said marketer. Insert smiley face here.)

Paid Bloggers Still Get Google Downgrades

Bloggers who had earned a decent or better Page Rank saw their status tank to zero once Google realized they were being being paid for certain posts by advertisers. Bloggers who are compensated can use the “nofollow&# tag within their outbound links to keep those links from being tagged by Google as paid content.
