In most cases, these efforts cost little or nothing more than your time. Here are some suggestions for leveraging social channels for event promotion. Events of all sizes. Large events. | SCOTT GOULD MARCH 17, 2010 The Issue With Social Media Events: They Aren’t Social The feedback is coming in from some events running right now – SxSWi, SMWF and some reviews from Like Minds, and something is clear to me: we still are thinking top down. Some how it seems the people come for the people, but the event isn’t organised for this. But… Social Media events are very broadcast, very vertical, and aren’t social. Non-broadcast. | | | | | | | MOBILEGROOVE DECEMBER 7, 2010 New AIME Knowledge Seminar Debates Future of In-App Billing Tomorrow (December 8 th ) in London AIME wraps up the conference and event season with In-App Billing 2.0: EventsIn-app billing is shaping up to be more than a 2011 mobile megatrend; it may be the only way developers can make real money selling their applications – period. The in-app imperative. How fast are developers/stores taking up in-app billing? Technical integration issues. | SCOTT GOULD AUGUST 23, 2010 Using Social Media to Extend and Enhance Offline Events and Experiences Sure, you can get a long list of resources that will make your event what is called a ‘hybrid’ (a virtual and physical event), but how do you know which ones are the priority for you, and what is the strategy behind those tactics anyway? This means that I be at the event before the event, during the event, after the event. You get the idea. | SOCIALFISH MARCH 14, 2011 12 Questions When Considering A Hybrid Event Hybrid events, face-to-face experiences with a live streaming component for remote attendees, should be the norm. 12 Question To Consider About Hosting A Hybrid Event. Do we have a budget to broadcast the event to our members and potential members? Then you can brand the page with event information. And, we’ll save those reasons for another post. | SOCIALFISH MAY 10, 2011 Adding Satellite Sites To Your Hybrid Event Mix Think big massive events, large numbers of people…and many locations. That’s the best environment for satellite sites or pods with your hybrid event. satellite site is when a group of people gather together to watch a live stream from your main event. Creating satellites sites with your hybrid event is best described as creating your own television network. Creating satellite sites with your hybrid event is nearly the same thing. This will help extend the event experience and make it personal for each remote attendee. | | | | | | | | | -

SCOTT GOULD | FRIDAY, JANUARY 21, 2011 If you’re not talking, you’re not learning In preparing for our Like Minds itinerary this year, I’ve been thinking again about how people learn and how events should help them learn. This is great news for event producers, right? Unfortunately, most events focus on people listening and they are unlikely to change this because we have adopted the view that the best events are those who have the most and best speakers. We don’t have the view that the best events are those which help you learn. And ultimately, the only reason people go to the event is about association rather than learning. MORE >> -
