Digg in its new avatar after the takeover has converted into a single page site, and power Digg users would have thousands of diggs and submissions and comments which they might want to backup. You choose. | SOSHABLE JANUARY 11, 2011 Reddit vs Digg: A Case Study It needed to be very close to being equally popular on both Digg and Reddit, plus we needed the site owner to be willing to share their analytics data with us. The number of Reddit points was a little higher than the number of Diggs, but comments weren’t even close – over 3X as many on Reddit than Digg. Digg RedditLet’s take a look: The Numbers. | | | | | | | ARI HERZOG JANUARY 20, 2011 How to Syndicate Your Blog to Digg It used to be taboo to promote your own blog articles on Digg but, since June 2010 when the social bookmarking site was improved, this is no longer frowned upon. Presuming you have an RSS feed for your blog, you merely have to log into your Digg account and follow the prompts to verify to Digg you are the owner of your blog. Social Media Digg RSSAre you an active Digger? | SOSHABLE DECEMBER 20, 2011 4 Things We Expect to See from Digg in 2012 As the year comes to a close, Digg is far from dead and is poised for a rebound in 2012. Here’s what we expect (hope) to see from the social news giant: Nothing else will have any meaning if Digg doesn’t turn a profit by the middle of the year. If there’s one reason Digg brought in Matt Williams as CEO, it was his understanding of profitability and advertising development. Digg is heading in the right direction with 2 additions from 2011. Larger sites like Mashable don’t even have Digg buttons on their stories anymore. | SOSHABLE OCTOBER 10, 2012 The Dead Horse, Beaten: Digg is Gone and Never Coming Back Digg is unofficially dead. The tens of millions of pages of content curated by millions of users (and thousands of Digg “addicts” who spent countless hours every day for years finding the best on the web to present to the world through Digg) were wiped out and will never return. This will be the last post on this site about Digg. Digg Featured Social News | SOSHABLE JULY 31, 2012 The New @Digg Could Be Worse. No it Couldn’t. I told Kevin Rose that he made a huge mistake with Digg v4 a couple of days after launch. As progressions go, I had expected to offer some meaningless after-the-fact advice to the new owners of Digg once they launched “V1″ Unfortunately, I have no advice to give. In short, Digg is officially dead. This was the one great asset that Digg still held. Forever. | | | | | | | | | -
SOSHABLE | SUNDAY, DECEMBER 16, 2012 Revisiting @Digg: Despite the Hate, the Quality has Improved Dramatically We’re four and a half months into the new version of Digg. The new Digg team has managed to find its place in the news world quickly and by maintaining a steady stream of visitors, they’re positioned to make the move back up in the rankings. By focusing on quality only and bringing in some freshness either to the site itself or with the ways they distribute the stories through email and social media, there’s a chance we may see Digg rise from the ashes in a way that so few “fallen” sites are ever able to pull off successfully. Triage is over. MORE >> -
SOSHABLE | SATURDAY, MARCH 19, 2011 Three Things Digg Needs to Survive: Buzz, Buzz, and Buzz No, Digg is not dead. As I posted on FastCompany last month, Digg has until May to get the help (which we’ve offered on multiple occasions free of charge) they need to get back on track or they will miss their last window of opportunity to keep from going the way of Propeller, MySpace, and Yahoo Buzz. If they do not get help, statements such as RIP Digg and Why Digg Failed will prove to be spot on assessments of a site that should have been skyrocketing in 2011. That helped to prompt the recent round of Digg-hate from the blogosphere. Not yet. Not yet. MORE >> -
SOSHABLE | FRIDAY, MARCH 18, 2011 Kevin Rose Leaves Digg (but he really left long ago) Kevin Rose has resigned from Digg. The founder and former CEO who helped put in place the debacle of Digg V4 is founding a new startup with a $1mil+ round of funding according to Techcrunch. Will he be tagged as the person who tanked Digg if it fails? Will he be considered the reason it grew but also the reason that if almost failed if Digg is able to come back from this? This comes as no surprise. His involvement at the site that put him on the cover of Business Week has been non-existent of late. tweeted him once, asking about a site feature back in January. SOSHABLE | FRIDAY, AUGUST 10, 2012 Digg Traffic Falls out of Top 200 on Alexa, Heading Out of Top 400 Most believed that when Betaworks bought Digg last month and announced plans to revamp the site completely, that they were getting a recognized domain and a good amount of traffic to go with it. Despite Digg’s fall over the last 3 years, it has always hovered on Alexa’s traffic rank between 120 and 190 worldwide. Poor performance in the first 10 days of the Betaworks era at Digg have them ranked 203 on the Global Rank scale which accounts for the prior 3 months. In fact, there really is no true “community” at Digg anymore. MORE >> -
SOSHABLE | MONDAY, MARCH 14, 2011 The Future of Digg If you’d come up to me just a couple days ago and asked if Digg were going to survive for the long haul, I’d have sadly opined, “No.. By way of background, here’s the 50-cent version of my Digg story: Account since 2007, active user since early 2008. 130,847 diggs, 18,960 comments, 3,466 submissions and 1,054 popular stories. won’t belabor the story about how Digg totally screwed up the site with Version 4. What’s often gotten lost in the debate over the future of Digg are these users – the REAL reason Digg was successful. MORE >> -
