Is it okay for a company or brand to engage on Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin but be antisocial on their own website? If you upload images and videos, embed a Flickr Gallery and a YouTube Channel Widget so the content is available on your homeland as well. Or do they need to socialize their homeland as well?

Don’t force them to visit your Facebook page when they hang out on a forum or message board. You can’t have brand advocates if your don’t cultivate those relationships. For example, don’t sit and preach about the virtues of your product when they come looking for tech support.

It lets people know what they can expect from following your brand and massively helps to increase signups compared to a normal landing page. Forums Message boards are really the first internet form of social media, after IRC. So although I have a profile on Facebook, I do not use Facebook for marketing to people.
