I discovered AdSense (Google’s advertising network), and started putting their ads on my blog. AdSense – 8%. sponsorship – 6%. ProBlogger job board – 5%. ProBlogger events – 3%.

Amazon will give you a cut of everything a person someone buys within 24 hours of following your link. I often get commissions from people buying books, cosmetics, jewellery, and even nappies (diapers). Being an “affiliate” for a product means you recommend it to your readers and get a commission each time someone buys that product.

Direct ad sales – Advertisers were targeted my site. I knew Google took a cut, so I reached out directly to advertisers. $20 Promoted eBooks and products for other blogs. Added other advertising networks. Launched an eBook on ProBlogger. We have since launched 35 eBooks. 20 a month on first one.

The same thing happened when I moved from just having advertising and affiliate promotions as the bulk of my income and then started to create ebooks. Advertising networks, that was my first one. It’s very easy to say monetize your blog with courses but I only did courses because I did ebooks.
