In a world where Apple not only sells their iPad (ranging from $400 - $900) and also controls the majority of the content that you can put on it from iTunes , why wouldn't they deploy a similar model to Amazon's in the hopes of owning the consumer by way of the hardware? hardly use my iPad anymore as I travel with the MacBook Air and I don't like reading books on the computer (just yet). Being a retail creature of habit, I realize how bad this is for the retailer, but the truth is that reading, buying and storing my books in the cloud trumps all. Retail is going to have to change. I'm less confident in Microsoft and Google's attempts at cracking the penetration that Apple 's iPad is having, simply because both the Surface and Nexus 7 are making their debut with wi-fi only. It retails new for $449 and Amazon sells it for 16% less. Some people suggested I get an iPad but that was an illogical decision for me unless I also had an iPhone. The tablet is installed with a 10.1-inch display screen, 16GB of hard drive space, 1GB of memory, both front and rear cameras, and other specifications — and unlike the iPad, it has built-in ports for USB, Micro USB, and HDMI. I waited for the Acer Iconia a500 tablet to arrive, and I unpacked it today. This is among the short list of tablets to be upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich in the coming weeks.
