Tumblr was launched in 2007 by David Karp and is currently owned by Automattic , owners of Wordpress.com and WooCommerce. And to engage with content, you either reblog or like a post.

You can even Blog using tumblr - which is a hybrid online social network and Blogging platform - or you can Blog for an existing online publisher like The Huffington Post. Pushing that further, it's somewhat hard to even define what, exactly, a Blog is in this day and age. Design matters. The look good and red well. blog analytics.

Is tumblr a Blog (some would argue that tumblr is a Blog mixed with more social layers)? " What is a Blog? While some may call me a traditionalist, I think there are certain aspects of online publishing that does identify something as a Blog, and they include: RSS feed. Trackbacks. Permalinks. Archive by date. Instant publishing.

The blogger (Professor Jutras) posts his ideas, occasionally throws in some editorial and takes some light, widget-fed microblogging (the current events some students share). We pause for 10 minutes, and when we return, the class asks questions or makes comments, to which Professor Jutras responds. I see this seminar as a blog.

My Tumblr microblog feed is there, too, for the same reason. And that dashboard is always available to me no matter where I am. Sort of a mini de.licio.us, I suppose. A feed to my "BlogThis" tag in de.licio.us --A few weeks ago, I noticed that someone had used a de.licio.us tag called "blog this."
