On a more analytic level, there are a variety of reasons for not using a commenting system which currently rests on the shoulder of one company. And whilst Facebook has privacy controls, I don’t fancy checking 500-odd people have the right settings in place before I post on Techcrunch. That’d work for a couple of weeks.

Meta Tags When you search for a site in Google, you’ll see a snippet of content under the page link. I should mention that Google announced a few months ago they do not crawl the keywords tag anymore. The Google external keyword tool is a good place to start to see which phrases are popular in your audience.

Whether or not an idea fits perfectly within Google’s guidelines. This may seem like quite a strange topic for someone who, for eight years, has been highly focused on the Google “right way” Not too much has changed there because I still believe in the Google way. Before I talk more about this, I do want to say that Google look down on sites selling text links. They do not get to see the actual domain until they purchase the link, which helps protect you from companies like Google finding out if you’re selling links. Thats insane, I have had sites sandboxed by google for 3 months.
