Just as low-level article directories (ezinearticles, articlesbase, and others) got hurt by Google’s Panda Update in 2013, I predict that Google will hurt sites abusing guest blogging in 2013. All the social media sites NoFollow such links, which acts as an instruction to the search engines to not pass PageRank through those links. Here are two examples worth considering. The theory is that content that gets shared a lot in social media may be seen as more valuable content by the search engines.

It’s doubtful that the comments have any real benefit to the commenter as most blogs have nofollow links in comments which kill any search ranking benefits and nobody in their right mind will click their links as they’re so obviously spammy.
