Many are even screaming that the death of Google Reader is the death of RSS and the beginning (or end?) While RSS is great for B2B applications of sharing information and likely won't go away, from a consumer perspective I think email has won this battle. I hope RSS makes a come-back. of the death of "open".

It can’t be a purely RSS play as we need gadgets/widgets for API only based services. What will happen to the data stored in my gadgets? Other gadgets, like the to-do list , allow you to export your data – look for the “Download all” option under the drop-down menu tied to the title of your list. Really grumpy !

It’s not likely that you are going to lose your online data anytime soon, though it is always a present possibility. On top of that, roughly one third of all data loss is due to user error. At the heart of these tools is the goal to keep people connected by allowing for access to data and the ability to easily communicate through a variety of channels.
